Capodimonte

Placed on the picturesque spur overlooking the lake, it is 334 metres above the sea level, on a little peninsula only 25 km NW from the province town, Viterbo. It is part of the town also the wonderful Bisentina Island, that represents an intertesting possibility for an excursion, being well linked to the town by an efficient motorboat service, with tourist guide service. This place is both an ancient town rich of history and traditions, and the favourite summer destination for bathers, because of its sure bottom, added to the cleanliness af the beach.

A must-see

17th of January S. Antonio Abate – Blessing of animals, equestrian games and lighting of the traditional wood fire.

20 gennaio S. Sebastiano – Feast of the Patron Saint of the town and of the Italian Traffic Police. Provincial feast of the Police Force.

IIIrd Sundey after Easter – Traditional feast ( flowers are put on the ground to form sacred pictures and images ) through the old town streets, with procession in honour of Madonna delle Grazie.

IInd Sunday of August – Festival of Coregone (typical fish of the Bolsena lake).

15th of August S. Maria Assunta in Cielo – Solemn nocturnal procession and wonderful fireworks above the lake.

16th of August San Rocco – Fast of the Co-Patronal Saint of the town. It represents the climax of the “Capodimontana Summer”, that divides in nocturnal dances in the outside, varied arts shows, chamber music concerts of the Schola Cantorum of Capodimonte.
